MEET THE SPEAKERS @TECH WOMEN SUMMIT: ECATERINA MORARU
April 11, 2019 @ 7:00 pm
Tech Women Summit is happening in less than two weeks and we are happy and proud to announce our amazing Speakers.
Please meet Ms. Ecaterina Moraru, Interaction Designer Lead at XWiki and our Speaker for Software Management track at Tech Women Summit.
Ecaterina designs and builds Open Source software for more than 10 years. Her community of choice is XWiki (xwiki.org), where she is the Interaction Designer Lead, tackling the challenge of improving the usability and user experience for users from more than 115 countries. Since 2015, she is also part of the Open Source Design community (opensourcedesign.net), pushing open design processes for the open source software communities around the world.
If you want to know what does it mean to design in the open, what opportunities there are and how is this different from the “normal” design, then make sure you don’t miss Ecaterina’s exciting talk “Designing in the open”.
Here is what you need to know about the upcoming session: “When I mention the word ‘design’, I refer to User Experience, Interaction Design, Accessibility, Usability, and User Research.
Designing in the open is very different from designing for a client. Even if every community has its particular rules, we can attempt to generalize the process, but still it is very unstable, blurry and with lots of unknowns: who is the target of your product, who takes the final decision in open source, how do you evaluate your prototypes when you can’t meet the people that will use the product or when you need to address users with very different backgrounds. Closed and paid products are money driven and can be very specific, but open source projects have different motors and the developers and designers need to adapt to these constraints. There are many topics to discuss related to Open Source Design, but I will try to give an overview of the process and introduce people that never experienced Open Source Design to the concept.”
We hope you got enthusiastic about the opportunity to meet Ecaterina and we suggest you to hurry up to book a place by filling in the registration form here.
The participation is free of charge, but prior registration is required. Please note that the number of places is limited.
Tech Women Summit is organized by the National Association of ICT Companies (ATIC) in partnership with TECH Women Community, with the generous support of the United States Agency for International Development, Sweden and UN Women.
