IT STUDENTS DEVELOP THEIR SKILLS REQUIRED ON THE LABOR MARKET, THANKS TO A PILOT INITIATIVE LAUNCHED WITHIN THE TEKWILL PROJECT

Some of the most recognized international study programs in the field of IT, developed by Oracle University, will be available free of charge to students and teachers in higher education institutions in the Republic of Moldova. The initiative aims to train the workforce needed in the field and is implemented through universities in the Republic of Moldova. The proposal for young people has been launched with the financial support of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the Government of Sweden in the Project “Development of the Center of Excellence in ICT TEKWILL”.

Thus, 200 students and teachers will have the opportunity to study Java or SQL Fundamentals programming languages and to access globally recognized educational resources. This will be possible based on equities and vouchers provided by Oracle University which allow free access to online courses.

For three months the young people will intensively study the content proposed during the university classes and will acquire the relevant knowledge to successfully pass the OCA (Oracle Certified Associate) certification exam. Students will have access to the entire content authorized by the Oracle Workforce Development Program for the Java Fundamentals course: theoretical and practical lessons, quizzes, team projects, etc. Internationally recognized, Oracle certification confirms the acquired knowledge and skills develope, constituting an important advantage in the process of employment and professional assertion.

The pilot project is part of the Tekwill Ambassadors Program, the “Scholarships” edition, as an initiative that brings development programs and opportunities closer to all stakeholders and provides them with the support and resources needed to achieve performance in the field of Information and Communication Technology.

The initiative was made possible by the collaboration between Oracle University and the National Association of ICT Companies (ATIC), whose goal is to ensure access to current and future ICT specialists in Moldova to the most relevant training courses and international certification opportunities.
